Why do companies reject insurance claims?

There can be many reasons for rejecting a claim by insurance companies, including not giving correct information about your health at the time of insurance, discrepancy in information in your documents, violation of policy conditions, etc. In such a situation, you should take special care of all these things while taking an insurance policy.

What to do if the insurance claim is rejected?

If your claim has been rejected by the insurance company, the first thing you need to do is approach the Grievance Redressal Officer of the insurance company and file a complaint regarding the claim.

Complain to IRDAI

If your problem is not resolved within 15 days after complaining to the grievance redressal officer of the insurance company, then you can lodge a complaint with the insurance regulator IRDAI. For this, you can file a complaint on IRDAI’s email Complaints@irdai.gov.in. Apart from this, you can also take the help of toll free number 155255 or 1800 4254 732.

Take help of Insurance Ombudsman 

You can complain about non-receipt of insurance claim to the Insurance Ombudsman of your area. You will get information about the Insurance Ombudsman with your insurance company.
