But only Indian citizens get the benefit of this facility, foreign citizens do not come under its purview. What is the benefit of insurance
If you opt for this insurance, then if any of your valuables are lost during the journey, then the insurance companies compensate for your lost luggage. Apart from this, in case of unfortunate accident, the expenses of treatment and in case of unfortunate death, the dependents get financial help in compensation.

Insurance amount is received according to the loss

Under the railway travel insurance facility, if a passenger dies in a train accident or is permanently disabled, then an insurance amount of up to Rs 10 lakh is given. If the passenger becomes partially disabled, he is given Rs 7.5 lakh as compensation. On the other hand, in case of serious injury, assistance of Rs 2 lakh is given and in case of minor injury, passengers get up to Rs 10,000 from the Railways.

How can claim
Insurance can be claimed within 4 months of the train accident. For this facility provided by IRCTC, you can file a claim for insurance by going to the office of the insurance company from which you have bought insurance. Keep in mind that while buying insurance, fill the name of the nominee, so that there is no problem in claiming it in case of any untoward incident.
