Train Fare Concession: Will senior citizens get big relief? This update came regarding the discount on train fare

Senior Citizen Train Ticket Fare: A new update has come to the fore regarding the discount on train fare for senior citizens. If the government’s consent is made, then again the rent will be exempted.

Train Ticket Fare Concession: Since the time of Kovid-19 epidemic, the concession in train fare to senior citizens has been abolished and it has not been started yet. In such a situation, the Parliamentary Standing Committee has recommended for exemption in rent for senior citizens. Earlier, Indian Railways used to give 40 per cent concession in male category to senior citizens who are 60 years of age or above.

On the other hand, a 58-year-old woman was given a 50 percent discount on rent. These concessions were given in fares of all classes of Mail, Express, Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto group trains, but have been discontinued on 20 March 2020. The Standing Committee of Railways headed by BJP MP Radha Mohan Singh has placed this report and recommended to the government to restore it.

The report has been presented in both the Houses of the Parliament and it has been said that according to the information given by the government, now the era of Kovid is over and Railways have also benefited by saving on fare exemption. The revenue of Railways has also increased. In this case it should be restored.

Special recommendation for people of these classes

The committee has said in the report that exemption in rent to senior citizens can be considered. Especially the people of A3 and sleeper class can be given benefits, so that the needy people can get help. The committee said that for this reason a recommendation is being made to the Railways and the government to restart it.

No plan to give concession now

Let us tell you that several statements have been issued by Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav that he has no immediate plan to resume the railway concession. It said that already 50-55 per cent concession is being given to all passengers.
