Star Health Customer Data Leak: If you have also taken a policy from Star Health and Allied Insurance, then this news is of use to you. Actually, the personal information of about 3.1 crore policyholders of the company has been leaked. Hackers have made this data available on Telegram through chatbot. The leaked customer data includes sensitive information like name, address, email, mobile number, tax details, test reports and treatment of disease as well as medical reports. However, Star Health says that this incident of data theft is not very big. They are in touch with law enforcement officials about this.

News agency Reuters downloaded more than 1,500 files with some documents till July 2024. According to the agency report, a Telegram user named ‘XenZen’ has created chatbots that allow users to request and download information related to Star Health policy. Star Health’s data is being provided by two chatbots. One is in PDF format and the other gives the policy number, name and other information to the users with just one click. As soon as Telegram takes down one chatbot, another one is created after some time.

A policyholder certified the authenticity of the data

Hackers have released the records related to the treatment of a policyholder’s daughter in a hospital in Kerala. It contains all the information along with a bill of Rs 15,000. It is worth noting that Star Health had told the stock markets on August 14 that it was investigating the breach of data of some claims. An unknown person had claimed to have access to some of its data on August 13. After that the insurance company informed the cyber crime department about it.

These details are present in the data

Reuters report states that the data has been leaked from two chatbots. The creator of these chatbots informed Jason Parker, a British security researcher, about the Star Health data leak. He gave this information to the security agencies. According to the report, attempts are being made to sell the personal information of policyholders through Telegram. Hackers are also providing samples to interested buyers. Reuters has also claimed to download the data. This data contains information about the policyholders’ names, mobile numbers, addresses, tax details, ID cards, test results and medical conditions.
