PMJJBY: Under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, the government is providing term insurance cover to the people of the country. In this scheme, you can avail the benefit of insurance cover of Rs 2 lakh by investing just Rs 436.

The central government is running several schemes to provide economic and social security to the lower sections of the society. In this series, more than 21 crore countrymen are getting the benefit of Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana i.e. PMJJBY. This scheme was launched in May 2015. It is a term life insurance plan. Under this, if the insured person dies due to any reason, then an amount of Rs 2 lakh is paid to his family.

In a post made by the Finance Ministry on the social media platform X, it was said that under the Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh is being given to more than 21 crore people, it provides financial security to the families in difficult times. The post further said that till October 20, more than 21.67 crore registrations have been done in this scheme and 8,60,575 claims have been received with a value of Rs 17,211.50 crore.

Insurance of Rs 2 lakh on an annual premium of Rs 436

Any person between 18 and 50 years can register in this scheme. Under this, insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh is available in case of death due to any reason. For this, a premium of Rs 436 has to be paid annually.

48 crore people have registered under PMSBY

The Finance Ministry said that about 48 crore people have registered under the PMSBY scheme, which provides accident insurance coverage of Rs 2 lakh. According to official data, 47.59 crore people have registered in PMSBY till November 20.

More than 53.13 crore bank accounts opened under PMJDY
The ministry said that more than 53.13 crore bank accounts have been opened under PMJDY. The ministry further said that about 55.6 percent (29.56 crore) Jan Dhan account holders are women and 66.6 percent (35.37 crore) Jan Dhan accounts are in rural and semi-urban areas.
