Although the Maharashtra government has announced another scheme on the same lines to strengthen the farmers financially.
Farmers will get 12 thousand help in a year
The Shinde government of Maharashtra has announced the Namo Shetkari Mahasaman Nidhi Yojana, under which 1.15 crore farmers of the state will be given additional financial assistance of Rs.6000. After this, farmers will continue to get financial assistance of Rs. 6000 under Pradhan Mantri Samman Nidhi Yojana, which means that now financial assistance of Rs. 12 thousand will be transferred to the farmers of Maharashtra in a year.
Only Rs 1 will have to be spent for getting crop insurance
Apart from this, now only a premium of Re 1 will be required to insure the crops of the farmers. The state government has kept a premium of only Re 1 for insurance of crops under Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and due to this the financial burden of Rs 3312 crore will be given by the state government from its fund. For this, the farmer will just have to register on the portal of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana and pay Re 1, after which the state government will pay the installment of crop insurance.
Because of this the decision was taken
Significantly, the Shinde government of Maharashtra has identified 14 districts to stop the increasing suicides of farmers in the state and has decided to give an amount of Rs.1800 instead of distributing food grains through PDS. The government believes that this will help strengthen the farmers and reduce the number of suicides among them.
