Farmers do not get insurance amount on time
Union Minister of State for Farmers Welfare Ram Nath Thakur said in the Lok Sabha that due to incorrect and delayed submission of insurance claims by banks, discrepancies in yield data, disputes between the state government and insurance companies and delay in receiving the state’s share of funds, many times farmers are not able to get the insurance amount on time.
In future, such arrangements are being made that farmers will not need to provide pictures of crops damaged by natural disaster. The government will itself assess the damage through its satellite system and provide compensation to farmers for the loss of their insured crops.
Congress MP from Rohtak Deepender Singh Hooda had sought information from the government about the distribution of insurance amount state-wise in an unstarred question. He alleged that the farmers of Haryana are not getting full and timely compensation for their insured crops.
