There is good news for pensioners. Actually arrears will be paid to them in 4 half-yearly installments. Along with this, orders have been issued to pay the outstanding arrears in one installment to family pensioners and gallantry award winners, including receiving special and liberalized family pension.
Pensioners Pension, OROP Arrears, One Rank One Pension: There is big news for pensioners. Actually soon they will be paid the arrears. An order has been issued for this. Under the issued order, a lump sum amount will be seen in their account. An order has been issued by the Ministry of Defense for this.
Payment of arrears of pension in four half-yearly installments
The arrears will be paid to the pensioners only as per the order issued on 28th April. Under the issued order, the category has been divided for pensioners. Along with this, the arrears of pension will be paid in four half-yearly installments by the pension disbursing agency.

As per the order from 01.07.2019 till the date of its implementation the arrears on account of revision of pension will be paid by the pension disbursing agencies in four half yearly installments. However, all family pensioners including special/liberalised family pensioners and all gallantry award winners will be paid arrears in one instalment.
In pursuance of the order dated 20.03.2023 of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in WP(C) No. 419/2016 filed by Indian Ex-Servicemen Movement Vs. Union of India in MA No. 219/2023, Para 6 of the above mentioned Ministry of Defense vide order dated 20.01.2023 The letter is modified as follows:-
The outstanding amount on account of revision of pension from 01.07.2019 till the date of its implementation will be paid by the pension disbursing agencies as follows:
OROP dues to family pensioners including special/liberalised family pension and gallantry award winners will be paid in one installment on or before 30.04.2023.
The arrears arising out of revision of pension under OROP due to pensioners of the age of 70 years or more as on 01.01.2023 shall be paid on or before 30.06.2023.
The arrears arising out of revision of pension under OROP payable to the remaining pensioners shall be paid in equal installments on or before 31.08.2023, 30.11.2023 and 28.02.2024.
Whereas all other terms and conditions not affected by this order shall remain unchanged.
- This much will be the payment of arrear amount
- Arrear amount from 1st July 2019 to 30th June 2022
- Constable will get around ₹ 87000 arrears
- Nayak will get around Rs 114000 arrears
- lieutenant general will get arrears of about 4 lakh 32 thousand rupees
- Sub major will get about 1 lakh 75 thousand arrears
- While Major will get about 3 lakh 5 thousand arrears
- Lieutenant colonel will get about 4 lakh 55 thousand rupees
- Naib Tehsildar will get around 108000 arrears
- Havildar will get around 7000 arrears
- Colonel will get about 4 lakh 42 thousand arrears
- The Brigadier will get a benefit of about Rs 5 lakh 5 thousand.
- Major General will get the benefit of arrears of about 3 lakh 90 thousand rupees
