New Delhi: Recently figures came out, in which it was found that 35 thousand crores are lying unclaimed in the banks, which have no claimants. The news came quoting RBI that 12 banks of the country have no claimant of Rs 35000 crore. Not only RBI but Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) also has similar unclaimed funds. According to the latest report, the country’s largest insurance company LIC has an unclaimed amount of Rs 21500 crore, which has no claimant. This information has been given by LIC, according to which they have unclaimed funds of Rs 21500 crore.

Unclaimed funds with LIC

At the time of LIC’s IPO launch, it was informed in the documents that they have a fund of Rs 21539 crore till September 2021, for which no claimant has come forward. If you have also forgotten to keep money in LIC, then you can easily check it. If you have forgotten to claim your money in LIC, then you can check it by following some steps. Insurance company LIC has given a special tool to get information about unclaimed amount, with the help of which you can check whether it is your money. Let us tell you that if any amount is lying with the insurance companies without any change for more than 10 years without any claim, then it is called unclaimed amount. As per IRDAI rules, beam companies have to keep complete details of unclaimed amount of Rs 1000 or more.

How to know unclaimed amount

  • To find out the unclaimed amount, click on the customer service section on the LIC website.
  • Click on Unclaimed Amount of Policyholders.
  • After opening a separate window, enter your policy number, policy holder name, date of birth, PAN card details and submit.
  • On clicking, you will get the details of unclaimed amount.
  • If it is yours then you can claim it and get it.
