Whereas for even less than this, the central government is giving you insurance for up to one year. There are two insurance schemes of the Centre, by taking them together you can buy life insurance worth Rs 4 lakh at a nominal premium. In one scheme, insurance on disability is also provided.
Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana and Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana are two such insurance schemes in which you can get insurance up to Rs 4 lakh by paying Rs 456. Both these schemes were started in 2015. Under Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana, persons between 18 years to 50 years can take insurance cover. In this, on the death of the insured, his dependents are given Rs 2 lakh. Rs 436 have to be paid for this scheme. The cover of this scheme is available from 1st June to 31st May. Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
In this scheme you have to pay only Rs 20 annually. People between 18 to 70 years can take advantage of this scheme. This scheme was also started with PM Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana. In this, the insured gets accidental death insurance of Rs 2 lakh. Even if the insured becomes completely disabled in an accident, he will be given Rs 2 lakh. Even in case of partial disability, Rs 1 lakh is given to the insured. You can buy this insurance by going to your nearest bank. Its insurance period is also from 1st June to 31st May.
Cheaper than a cup of tea
If you drink tea worth Rs 10-15 every day, you will spend Rs 450 in a month. Whereas even by combining these two schemes, the premium is only Rs 456. It is very important to take insurance so that one’s family does not have to face financial crisis in case of any untoward incident. The government is now enabling even low income people to buy insurance cover. Both these schemes are no less than a boon for low income people.
