Insurance Data Leake : Have you also bought insurance from here? The company official sold the data of 3 crore customers to a hacker. Be careful!

Insurance Data Leak: While taking insurance from insurance companies, all your confidential information is shared. The customer is confident that his data will not go anywhere else, but an official of a big insurance company has sold the data of its 3 crore customers to a hacker.

Even when you go to buy small items, the store owner records your mobile number. Your Aadhaar and PAN are also registered with your mobile. Your bank account number is registered with your Aadhaar and PAN. It is obvious that if a company sells even a single piece of your data to someone, your entire history is revealed.

The company on which you trust and share your information, the same companies start earning money by selling your data. A similar case has come up with a big insurance company, where the company official sold the data of 3.1 crore registered customers to hackers.

Actually, we are talking about the insurance company Star Health Insurance. Personal information like mobile number, PAN, address and pre-existing medical conditions of about 3.1 crore customers of this company are being sold online. It is being said that the personal information of these customers is available for sale on the website of a hacker named Shenzhen. Madras High Court is also hearing the case.

The
hacker has claimed that the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO) of Star Health sold all this information related to the customers. After selling it, he also tried to change the terms of their deal. After the matter came to light, a complaint has also been filed in the court, which is to be heard in the Madras High Court on October 25.

How was it revealed?
UK-based researcher Jason Parker shared the details on September 20 and said that a hacker named Shenzhen has published sample data of Star Health Insurance Company and an email communication with a top official responsible for overseeing and managing the company’s digital network on the website. In this, there is a talk of selling the data of customers.

What does the hacker claim?

Hacker Shenzhen said, “I am making public the sensitive data related to all the customers and insurance claims of Star Health India. This leak is sponsored by Star Health and Allied Insurance Company, who have sold this data directly to me.” Giving clarification on this matter, Star Health Insurance said that a thorough and rigorous

forensic investigation is underway under the leadership of independent cyber security experts and the company is working closely with the government and regulatory authorities at every stage of the investigation of this data leak. Meanwhile, the Madras High Court has found that security is very important to prevent the continuous leak of such sensitive data and has fixed the next hearing of the case on October 25.
