The committee urged
the parliamentary committee of Indian Railways has urged the government to restore the exemption from the railway side. The Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Railways, headed by Bharatiya Janata Party MP Radha Mohan Singh, has urged the Railway Ministry to sympathetically consider restoring the concession given to senior citizens while traveling in trains.

According to the news agency PTI, the committee said that according to the information given by the Railways, the condition of Corona has become normal. The committee had also expressed this desire in its 12th Action Taken Report (17th Lok Sabha) on Passenger Reservation System. This can be considered at least in sleeper class and third ac class so that weak and really needy citizens can avail this facility.
Earlier,
before March 2020, railways used to give 50 percent discount on fare to women and 40 percent discount to men for traveling by rail in all classes in case of senior citizens. The minimum age limit for elderly women to get this exemption from the Railways was 58 years and for men was 60 years, but after the Corona period, all kinds of concessions given to them have been abolished.

The bill of pension and salary from the Railways has become very high. Along with this, Indian Railways had given a subsidy of Rs 59000 crore for passenger related services.
