- Visit the Income Tax Department’s portal – www.incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in
- Now go to ‘Quick Links’
- Here under ‘Authenticate’ you click on ‘Notice/Order Issued By ITD’
- Document number found in the notice Or enter PAN number, assessment year, month and year of issue of notice
- Now submit by entering the ‘Captcha Code’
- By doing so, you will see ‘Yes, Notice is valid and issued by Income Tax Authority’ written in front of you (if it is genuine)
- Fake notice will be detected
