The central government has notified new rules for surrogacy cases, according to which if a couple wants to have a child through surrogacy, they will have to get three years of health insurance for the woman willing to do surrogacy. So that this sum insured can be used to meet their pre-natal and post-delivery health needs.
According to the notification of the Central Government, this insurance can be done only through a company or agent authorized by the regulator of insurance companies in India. This has been taken care of in the notification keeping in mind the health needs of women ready for surrogacy.

There were usually complaints that women ready for surrogacy are left in limbo before or after delivery, due to which they have to face many problems. In this insurance, there will also be a provision of getting the sum insured to the family of a woman ready for surrogacy if she dies during the process of becoming a mother.

abortion, if the doctor recommends abortion to the surrogate mother during pregnancy, then the woman will have the right to do so according to the prescribed law. The central government has also set rules for private hospitals and clinics doing surrogacy. All such institutions will be required to get themselves registered and for this a fee of Rs 2 lakh will have to be paid, which is not refundable. However, government institutions will not be required to pay this fee.
Institutions will have to take appoint staff
Private institutions will also have to appoint adequate staff before taking permission to do surrogacy process in their own place. At least one Gynaecologist, one Anesthetist, one Embryologist and one Counselor must be appointed in such private institutions. Apart from these, it will also be necessary to have other staff.
The government has also fixed the experience limit for these doctors in its rules. The central government had made a law related to surrogacy cases last year, for which the rules have now been issued. The central government believes that in this law, an attempt has been made to take full care of the rights and health of women who become mothers through surrogacy.
