Even after completing this, the companies say that the claim is in the approval process. Due to this, patients experience trouble even after being discharged from the hospital. This has been revealed by a survey conducted by the online platform Local Circle.
60 percent of health insurance claimants are troubled
According to the survey conducted by Local Circle, 60 percent of health insurance claimants face trouble in getting health insurance payment after being admitted to the hospital. This survey was conducted among more than one lakh policy holders in 327 districts of the country. More than 80 percent of policy holders believe that the delay in payment of claim is done deliberately.
The hidden intention behind this is to create mental pressure on the policy holder by delaying the payment so that the policy holder accepts a lower payment of the claim. This result of the local circle survey is also worrying because the insurance regulator IRDAI has asked to settle the claim within one hour of discharge from the hospital.
21 percent had to wait for 24 to 48 hours
During the conversation with the people involved in the survey, it came to light that after being discharged from the hospital, 21 percent people had to wait for 24 to 48 hours to get the health insurance claim. While 12 percent people had to wait for 12 to 24 hours. At the same time, 14 percent people struggled for nine to 12 hours for this.
