Yes, the Gehlot government of Rajasthan has given a big gift to the residents of the state. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has announced free registration under ‘Chiranjeevi Swasthya Bima Yojana’. Announcing to extend the scheme to all EWS (Economically Weaker Section), the Chief Minister said that people with annual income less than Rs 8 lakh will not have to pay the premium of Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme.
Benefit will be available on income less than Rs 8 lakh
That means, if your annual income is Rs 8 lakh or less, then you will be given free health insurance by the government. The premium amount will be paid by the state government for families with income less than Rs 8 lakh of all categories including General, Other Backward Class, Extremely Backward Class, Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe. This announcement was made by Gehlot during a program organized at the Chief Minister’s residence.
Additional provision of Rs 425 crore made.
The Chief Minister said that the state government has made an additional provision of Rs 425 crore for this. During this period, online foundation stone laying ceremony and inauguration of 249 works worth Rs 771 crore were also done. He also flagged off 10 Chiranjeevi Janani Express ambulances and 25 mobile food testing ambulances.
What is the scheme?
Chiranjeevi Health Insurance Scheme was started by the Rajasthan Government in 2021. Earlier, under the scheme, cashless treatment up to Rs 5 lakh was provided annually to each family. After this, Chief Minister Gehlot increased the cover under the scheme from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 10 lakh in the financial year 2022-23. After this, this amount was increased to Rs 25 lakh for 2023-24.
Accident insurance of Rs 5 lakh
is also being given by the government to every Chiranjeevi family. Under the scheme, families taking advantage of the scheme can also get treatment for serious diseases like black fungus, cancer, paralysis, heart surgery, neuro surgery, organ transplant, Covid-19.
