Crop Insurance Schemes Due to fake applications under the crop insurance scheme in Maharashtra, the government may decide to take strict action. 1930 fake applications have been found in Beed district. It has been recommended to block the Aadhaar number.
After a large number of fake applications were filed under the Crop Insurance Scheme in Maharashtra, the government may decide to take strict action. The Agricultural Commissionerate has sent a proposal to the government and recommended blocking the Aadhaar number of those who filed fake crop insurance applications on the DBT portal. If this proposal is approved, the concerned applicants will not be able to avail any agricultural scheme in future. However, officials have clarified that no final order has been received from the higher office yet.
New policy to stop fake insurance
Let us tell you that the state committee has made three important recommendations to stop the fraud of this. The first recommendation is that crop inspection should be made mandatory so that it can be clear whether there are real crops or not. The second recommendation is that a premium of at least Rs 100 should be taken for crop insurance, so that the number of fake applications can be reduced. The third recommendation is that cases should be registered immediately against fake applicants so that no wrongdoing happens in future.
Possibility of blocking Aadhaar number
To prevent fake applicants from taking advantage of agricultural schemes, the government is considering blocking their Aadhaar numbers on the DBT portal. If this proposal is approved, such applicants will not be able to participate in any government scheme in future. Experts believe that this decision is necessary for transparency. However, it has to be kept in mind that this should not cause trouble to some real farmers.
1930 fake applications in Beed district
In the last two years, a large number of fake crop insurance applications have been revealed to be filed in parts of the state, including Beed district. In Kharif 2024, 1930 duplicate applications were found in Beed. Of these, 1086 applications are from Parli taluka. Along with this, 123 fake CSC IDs have also been revealed and it has been found that there is no actual crop at 59,352 locations. Following this, investigations were conducted across the state and similar frauds were revealed in many districts, including Dharashiv. Though cases have been registered against those who filed fake crop insurance in Dharashiv, no action has been taken in Beed yet.
The crop insurance scheme was launched as a safety measure for farmers. However, some people tried to cheat the government system by taking advantage of this scheme. Therefore, the government is now considering charging a premium of more than Rs 100. Strict steps need to be taken to check such fraud in future. Farmers should also avoid going on the wrong path and take advantage of the transparent scheme, otherwise they may face strict action.
