People take car insurance but there are many things in the insurance policy about which people are not even aware, due to which people have to face many problems while taking a claim. Today we will explain to you that if the car catches fire, will you get the insurance money or not?
Getting a car insured is not a big deal, the big thing is whether you understand the small details related to car insurance or not? Many times we see and hear that a car running on the road suddenly catches fire, in this case the first thought that comes to mind is whether the passengers sitting in the car are safe or not? After this, the next question that comes to mind is whether the insurance company will pay for the car burnt to ashes in the fire?
This question bothers many people that whether the claim money will be received after a fire or not? To know the correct and accurate answer to this question, we have talked to Santosh Sahani, Motor Head of Kataria Insurance. Santosh Sahani has informed us that in some cases the insurance money is received and in some cases the insurance company directly rejects the claim.
Car Insurance Claim: Claim is approved in this case
If you want that you do not face any problem while claiming the insurance money and you get the full amount, then for this you have to keep some important things in mind. Any insurance company approves the insurance claim in case of fire only if the fire is not caused due to your mistake.
If everything goes well, the company will give you your IDV (Insured Declared Value), but in this case, when the car goes to the garage, the garage owner keeps 5 to 10 percent of your IDV for himself, apart from this, a minimum file charge of Rs 1000 is also deducted.
Car Insurance: Claim will be rejected in this case
Car drivers make some such mistakes due to which the car catches fire. During the conversation with Santosh Sahani, it was found out that a case came to light in which the insurance company flatly refused to pay the car driver for the fire in the car, now the question arises why?
The insurance company said that the fire was caused due to the customer’s mistake, let’s understand how? It is not known whether the customer made a mistake in this case or not, but the Surveyor of the insurance company said that the reason for the fire in the car was the bulb which was of a local company and this bulb was drawing high-voltage and the car caught fire due to high voltage.
To save a little money people get parts installed from the local market instead of from the company, due to which the vehicle can get damaged. Now suppose the cost of a local bulb might have been Rs 250, but in order to save a little money the car worth Rs 5 lakhs got burnt and the driver did not get a single penny of the insurance. The insurance company rejects the claim money in the case when local parts or extra modifications have been done in the vehicle, which can increase the chances of fire.
