Government employees, pensioners and their dependents in Kerala are now going to get comprehensive medical insurance under the government’s new scheme ‘Medicep’ at a monthly premium of just Rs 500. The Pinarayi Vijayan government has approved the implementation of this much-awaited ‘cashless’ medical assistance through Oriental Insurance Company Limited from July 1.
Who will able to the benefit of the scheme
according to the order issued by the Under Chief Secretary (Finance) Rajesh Kumar Singh, government employees, pensioners/family pensioners and eligible members of their families, government universities employees and pensioners, Chief Minister, Leader of the Opposition, Chief Directly appointed personal staff of Whip, Speaker and Deputy Speaker etc. can also take advantage of this scheme.

Monthly premium will be only Rs 500.
Under this State Employees and Pensioners Medical Insurance Scheme (Medicep), the annual premium for 2022-24 will be Rs 4800 and ‘GST’. The monthly premium of insurance will be Rs 500.
