After the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Himanta Vishwa Sharma, Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal said that the state government considers those sent to jail during emergency as ‘democracy fighters’.

Then the amount of pension will be given to the wife
The minister said, ‘The Assam cabinet today approved monthly pension to 301 people for their contribution towards democracy. These people will get a monthly pension of Rs 15,000. In these, the wife of the persons who have passed away will get this amount and if both have passed away, then their unmarried daughter will get this amount.
Highest pension being given in AssamÂ
According to media reports, Singhal claimed that in many states of India, people who went to jail during emergency are being given pension, but the Assam government is going to give maximum pension to these people of its state. Opposition leaders were sent to jail during emergency

During the Emergency, singer Kishore Kumar’s songs were banned on Doordarshan and All India Radio. In fact, the then Information and Broadcasting Minister Vidyacharan Shukla had asked Kishore Kumar to sing for Indira Gandhi, to which Kishore refused.
