Lakshmibai Social Security Pension Scheme is a government scheme run by the Social Welfare Department of the Government of Bihar to promote social security and financial assistance to widowed women. This scheme provides financial support to poor and disabled widow women of Bihar state who have become powerless to manage after the demise of their husband.
The main objective of this scheme is to improve the standard of living of widow women, who are the sole earning women of the family. This scheme provides financial support to those women who are below poverty line and cannot bear the financial responsibility for their family. Through this, a fixed amount of pension is provided to the widowed women every month, which helps in their economic security and makes them self-reliant.
This pension is available from the age of 18 to 60 years.
Lakshmi Bai Social Security Pension Scheme is run by the Government of India and under this women are allowed to apply in the age group of 18 to 60 years. The scheme aims at providing social security to women below the poverty line. If the age of the woman is more than 60 years then she has to apply under Indira Gandhi Pension Yojana, which provides benefits to women above 60 years of age.
Apart from this, to take advantage of the scheme, the annual income of the woman should be less than 60 thousand. That is, the annual income of the woman or the combined income of the family should be less than this limit so that she can take advantage of this scheme.
