The date for linking Aadhaar-UAN has been extended till 30 November. Along with this, the EMPLOYEES’ PROVIDENT FUND ORGANIZATION (EPFO) has also appointed an officer for the convenience of the people. This will make it easier for people to link Aadhaar-UAN. If Aadhaar-UAN linking is not done before December 1, then you may also suffer a big loss. If the employee’s PF account (UAN) is not linked to Aadhaar, then his contribution will not be deposited. Along with this, you will not be able to withdraw money from PF account.
No use of EDLI
According to personal finance expert and CA Manish Kumar Gupta, Aadhaar-UAN linking is also necessary for insurance reasons. Because the Employee Deposit Linked Insurance (EDLI) of the employee will also not be deposited due to lack of link. This will take him out of the employee insurance cover.
What is EDLI
Labor ministry has increased the amount of death insurance benefit during Covid. Now the limit of insurance amount available under EDLI Scheme, 1976 has increased to seven lakh rupees. Earlier this amount was minimum Rs 2 lakh and Rs 6 lakh. This insurance cover is available when the PF account holder dies untimely.
