Crop Insurance: To protect your crop from damage, farmers should get insurance. The last date for this is 31 December 2024. You can apply in any of the ways given below.
Farmers of Kheri district can get their crops insured for crop protection and compensation for loss in disaster. For the crop year – Rabi 2024-25, notified crops (lentils, rapeseed mustard, wheat etc.) can get crop insurance under PM Crop Insurance Scheme. The last date for insurance is 31 December 2024. To protect farmers from damage, the security cover of PM Crop Insurance has been provided to the farmers. Farmers should get Rabi crops insured before 31 December, so that in any case they do not have to be disappointed in case of crop damage.
What is the objective
The main objective of this scheme is to provide insurance cover to notified crops sown in scheduled areas affected by natural disasters, promote advanced agricultural techniques and keep agricultural income stable during disaster. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana provides protection to farmers against crop loss during the crop cycle from sowing to post-harvest.
Insurance scheme figures in Rabi 2024-25
Under the scheme, 2,077 farmers have got insurance for 468 hectares of area in Rabi 2024-25. The District Magistrate has directed the District Agriculture Officer and DD Agriculture to go from village to village and run awareness campaigns through micro planning and get as many farmers registered as possible through CSC. Also, AR Co-operative has been instructed to add farmers associated with PACS Society to the scheme. Under the monitoring of the constituted teams, it has been asked to ensure that how many farmers are applying, and information about weekly progress should also be given.
Names of notified crops and last date of the scheme
District Agriculture Officer Arvind Kumar Chaudhary said that the notified crops in the crop year Rabi 2024-25 for district Kheri are lentil, rapeseed, mustard and wheat. Farmers have been requested to get their crops insured by December 31, the last date of insurance. The following documents are mandatory for crop insurance application – Aadhar card, bank account related form, land ownership certificate, sharecropping certificate, crop sowing certificate (self-attested), mobile number.
Get insurance through these methods
The farmer has to pay 1.5% premium of the insured amount. Apart from this, no other fee is payable for insurance. For insurance, farmers can contact their nearest bank branch, Public Service Center (CSC), Government of India’s PMFBY portal www.pmfby.gov.in, authorized insurance intermediary/office or post office. Any of these methods can be adopted for insurance.
