Crop Insurance Scheme: This year’s good rains in Beed district have raised the hopes of farmers for the Rabi season. Farmers have taken advantage of the crop insurance scheme of Rs 1 per crop, which has covered 95,313 farmers and 48,702 hectares of area.
This year, due to good rains in Beed district, the dams have been filled, due to which farmers have high hopes for the Rabi season. Sowing of Rabi crops like millet, wheat and gram has started in full swing, and farmers are coming forward to take advantage of crop insurance.
Let us tell you that the crop insurance scheme of Rs 1 per crop launched by the government for farmers is getting a good response. So far 95,313 farmers have taken insurance in the district and 48,702 hectares of area has been covered.
Government support and application process
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana is becoming very important for farmers. If crops are damaged due to pests or natural disasters, then insurance cover proves beneficial. Farmers can apply through the website pmfby.gov.in. Apart from this, application can also be made through insurance company representatives and collective service centers.
Let us tell you that the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) launched by the government on 18 February 2016 is an insurance scheme for farmers for their produce. Under this scheme, farmers’ crops get protection.
Agriculture Department’s forecast and farmers’ participation
Due to good monsoon rains, more than 90% sowing is expected in the Rabi season. This year, the Agriculture Department has predicted that millet and gram crops will be grown on a large scale. Both loanee and non-loanee farmers can easily participate in this scheme launched by the state government.

It has been observed that this year more farmers are turning to crop insurance in the Rabi season as compared to the Kharif season. The crop insurance scheme has not only become a financial security but also a new hope for the farmers.
